Blend some of each of the following to your taste.
The fundamentals:
oatmeal (old-school-fashioned)
flax seeds
ground cinnamon
warm water (or cold almond milk)
The fun stuff:
chia seeds
raw cacao powder (or carob powder)
raw coconut oil
raw honey (and/or blackstrap molasses)
sunflower seed butter (and/or almond butter)
Instructions
notes:
>> i like to use a single serve blender for convenience.
>> time managers: try having the ingredients ready the night before.
>> if using chia seeds, consider pre-soaking (in water that is infused with a good tea!)
>> the more organic, the better :)
get your tea kettle rollin' on low/medium heat while you prepare the mix.
Throw a few spoonfuls of oatmeal and a couple spoonfuls of flax seed into your cup and top it off with chia seeds to your liking. Then add as much cinnamon and cacao powder as you'd prefer and shake them down through the seeds and oats--that way they don't poof up out of the cup when you add liquid. Toss in a good spoonful of coconut oil and an even "gooder" spoonful of raw honey. Finish off the solids with some sunflower seed butter.
By now your water should be warm--you don't want it boiling or too hot, really, just warm. take your tea kettle and pour as much liquid as you see fit into the cup and proceed to blend.
Blend until you see broken flax seed pieces sticking to the surface of your cup. Enjoy! Try it with some well-toasted toast :)
