Snickerdoodle Cookies from Kraus's Recipes

Ingredients

1 c. soft shortening 1-1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 t. vanilla 2-3/4 c. flour 2 t. cream of tartar 1 t. baking soda 1/2 t. salt 2 T. sugar 2 t. cinnamon

Instructions

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla together thoroughly. Stir together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, then combine with wet mixture. Chill dough (if possible). Shape into walnut-sized balls and roll in mixture of 2 T. sugar and cinnamon. Place about 2" apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees until light brown, 8-10 minutes.
